Volunteer Drivers Needed
A very important ministry for our parish is the van driver and set-up ministry. Our volunteers form teams to bring our sound and altar equipment from Mount St. Joseph Saturday afternoon at 4:00pm to set it up at the Cavitt Gym for our weekend Masses. Without these volunteers, we would not be able to celebrate Mass!!!
We need a couple more drivers and members of set-up teams who are called upon only once every three weekends but, if there are more volunteers, they would be scheduled to come perhaps just once each month. Can you help us, please? We need volunteers now! Hopefully, we'll have our own church next summer and this very important ministry will no longer be needed. Send email today to Al Hardoy albert.l.hardoy@hp.com. Thank you, thank you!

44th Annual Golf Tournament

Mount St. Joseph Classic
Join us at one of the area's oldest and most prestigious golf tournaments Monday, September 13, at Sierra View Country Club, 105 Alta Vista Avenue, Roseville. Order of the day: registration 10:30am to 12:00pm, shotgun start 12:30pm. Dinner and awards will follow at the Club House (non-golfing guests are welcome but must call to reserve your ticket one week prior to this event). There will also be a silent auction. To register or for more information, call Mike Geraghty at 783.0295 or Phyllis Whitney at 530.823.9303. The added incentive for our parishioners is that the tournament benefits the Marello Youth Center where our parish youth ministries take place; the center also serves teens throughout Central and Northern California who seek to lead a faith-filled and meaningful life. Check out this flyer: Golf Tournament.

Speaker Series

"Faith, Wine & Cheese"
There is so much to learn about our Catholic Faith - it really does take much more than a lifetime, it is that rich and powerful, bringing light and wisdom to those who take the time to reflect on it. Consider joining us as St. Joseph Marello Parish presents our speaker series, "Faith, Wine and Cheese" with our first speaker, David Leatherby. Here's an opportunity to be together and to even make it an 'evening out' in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, featuring hors d'oeuvres and wine (no host bar). Learn more about our faith and have an opportunity for discussion and to ask questions. The series begins Thursday, September 23, at 6:45pm at the Granite Bay Golf Club. To reserve your $15 ticket (per person) or for more information, call Charlene Reese at 300-3886.

Building Project News
Update: August 30, 2010
St. Joseph Marello Parish Church
7200 Auburn Folsom Road, Granite Bay
____________________________________

Isn't it great to see all the work going on at the site of our parish church under construction? Parishioners are reminded to bless the project as you drive by. Ask the Lord to keep all the workers safe and to keep the work moving along in a timely manner. When we first began discussions and meetings to prepare for construction, we placed the project under the patronage of St. Joseph the Worker, the foster father of Jesus who was known as the carpenter from Nazareth. We ask this holy Saint to pray with us as our journey progresses and to help us complete this mission. As of August 30, we have raised $3,637,667 in gifts and pledges. This is enough to qualify us for a loan from the Diocese and to begin construction but not enough to eventually pay for the total cost of the church. We need the help of every parishioner and no gift is too small. It would be great if all our parishioners could increase your weekly offering. You might also consider increasing your original pledge and we invite all our new parishioners to join us on our adventure by making your pledge or offering your gift. Visit with our representative after weekend Masses or call our capital campaign office at 786- 5021. If we all work at this together, with the Lord’s help, we will build a beautiful temple where we shall worship the Lord and find spiritual refreshment for our soul. Thank you very much.To see more action on the site, visit Father Arnold's blog at www.sjmparish.blogspot.com.

Contact the Campaign Office at 786-5021 or send your email to sjmcampaign@yahoo.com to make your pledge or to make arrangements to give your gift to our building fund. Every donation directly benefits the building fund and every donation is important. You can speak with a representative after weekend Masses. We invite and encourage all our new parishioners to join us in this grand adventure. Visit this website for regular updates on construction progress and please remember to pray daily for the success of our project. Thank you!
See below to make donations online. We encourage all our parishioners to join us in this exciting mission of building our new parish church by making your pledge to our campaign. Talk to our representative after Mass or call the parish campaign office. Sincere thanks to all our parishioners who made your pledge! Pray daily for the success of our project.

Pledges and gifts as of August 30, 2010 – $3,637,667

We ask that every parish household download this prayer to the Lord to help us build our new church, perhaps saying it every day with your dinner prayer: Prayer for Our Church.

We thank you for your online giving
Contributions to our Campaign to build our new parish church can be made electronically with our Electronic Fund Transfer program. If you have made your pledge, please continue to make your payments as previously arranged through our parish office. To give a monetary gift other than your pledge, click this link and provide the necessary information. We thank you very, very much:  www.donation-net.net/StJosephMarello/donate.cfm.

Other ways to support our building project
There are other ways to help us with our pledge drive besides giving cash donations – for example, stocks, real estate, annuities, last will and testaments, personal property, etc. For details, contact our Campaign Office at 786-5021 or send email to sjmcampaign@yahoo.com. Some large businesses and corporations offer matching funds to charitable contributions made my employees. Check with your employer to see if you qualify when you contribute to our building campaign. Thank you sincerely for your support.

Association of Josephite-Marellian Laity

St. Joseph, the husband of Mary, is a family man. His vocation is to protect the Holy Family. Can you imagine what love, joy and peace must have prevailed in that family home?! We wish that for every family, for every individual. We try to capture that spirit in our spiritual association - the Josephite-Marellian Laity. Our mission is to learn more about St. Joseph and to strive to live in virtue as he did. We support with our prayer and energy the ministries of the Oblates of St. Joseph. We meet once each month, October through May, for a morning of recollection. For more information, call Betty at 624-7173.
