We are grateful to the dedicated volunteers of our parish Homebound / Hospital Ministry, who make sure that elderly and sick parishioners are visited on a regular basis either at home or in a health care facility.
DO YOU NEED TO SPEAK TO A PRIEST????
We urge any of our parishioners who feel that they are having any kind of personal crisis to never hesitate in contacting one of our Oblates of St. Joseph priests either here at the parish (916-789-5001) or at Mount St. Joseph in nearby Loomis. Announcement of New Pastor
June 17, 2013
Dear Parishioners & Friends,
Following a phone conversation with diocesan officials this morning, I am pleased to officially announce to you that our Most Reverend Bishop, His Excellency Jaime Soto, has appointed REV. PHILIP V. MASSETTI, O.S.J. as the new pastor of St. Joseph Marello Parish, Granite Bay. This appointment becomes effective July 1, 2013. We will officially welcome Father Phil at all our weekend Masses on July 6 - 7. He is a native of Madera, CA and an ordained priest of the Congregation of the Oblates of St. Joseph since 1976. Father Phil has served in various capacities over his 37 years of priesthood in California & Pennsylvania, with some brief missionary experiences in India & Nigeria. He served at different times as provincial superior of both former provinces in California and Pennsylvania before the merger of the two this past March creating the Oblates of St. Joseph Holy Spouses Province (USA).
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for the warm welcome you extended to me over these past five months that I served as interim Administrator of our beautiful parish following the departure of Fr. Arnold in mid-January. You inspired me in many ways through your strong faith and love for God & His Church. I was always amazed by your spirit of cooperation and the natural need of helping others both in and outside our parish community. It is very clear that the Gospel values are lived within your hearts and it becomes a natural extension of what we do each weekend when we gather around the Lord's Altar to be nourished and fed by His Word and by the Eucharist.
It is my plan that by July 10th I will move definitively from Mt. St. Joseph in Loomis to the Oblate Provincial Headquarters in Santa Cruz, CA to take up my full-time duties as provincial superior of our new USA Province. I kindly ask for your prayers as I have been asked by the Oblate Superior General in Rome, Italy to fulfill this role for a three-year term (2013-16). I also ask your forgiveness if during my time here at our parish I inadvertently hurt or offended anyone. It was an honor to serve you and come to know and love you in the Lord. I simply ask that you continue to share your wonderful gift of faith and spirit of cooperation with your new pastor as you shared it with me & Fr. Arnold.
May God bless each of you and your families as we continue to grow in our love for the Lord and for each other. It is very obvious that Christ dwells in this parish community and how blessed I was to experience it, even for a brief period of time --- THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!!!
With sincere love & gratitude,
Father Paul McDonnell, OSJ

Please join us on the first Thrusday of every month at Mount St. Joseph, 6530 Wells Avenue, Loomis, in the Oblates of St. Joseph seminary chapel.
Parishioners are invited to join us as together we pray to the "Lord of the Harvest" to touch the hearts of our young people and have them consider giving themselves completely to Christ as a priest, religious brother/sister, or permanent deacon.
We pray in a special way for the Oblates of St. Joseph religious congregation, the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, and the Diocese of Sacramento.
Please pray every day that young men and women hear and respond generously to the Lord's call to the priesthood, diaconate, and religious life. Within your own family, support and encourage vocations to the consecrated life. Talk to your children and grandchildren of their role in God's plan.
Mount St. Joseph Seminary

Mount St. Joseph is well known to all our parishioners and friends. Located at 6530 Wells Avenue in Loomis (and the home of the Marello Youth Retreat Center), it is where future priests and brothers of the Oblates of St. Joseph prepare for ministry in the Church. Visit their website at mountstjoseph.org to view their calendar of events, including Mass times.
Pray for Vocations ... Let us pray daily that the Lord will send His holy Church many vocations, men and women who will devote their entire life to the worship of the Lord and to the service of His holy people as priests, brothers and sisters. Pray that all those called will be able to discern the Lord's will for them and then have the courage to follow with love and zeal. Pray for vocations from our parish!
